Holly Rogers - Principal
Longtime MISD campus administrator and current Dowell Middle School Principal Holly Rogers has been named principal of Scott Johnson Middle School. The decision comes after SJMS Principal Dr. Mitch Curry announced his plan to retire earlier this month.
Rogers brings 27 years in education and a wealth of experience in MISD campus leadership to her new school, having served nine years as an assistant principal in the district and the past four years as principal of Dowell Middle School.
“I have had the opportunity to work with Holly Rogers for many years,” said Dr. Melinda DeFelice, MISD deputy superintendent of secondary student support and human resources. “She is amazing and is just what Scott Johnson needs.”
Rogers began her career in 1993 in Paris ISD as a third grade teacher and served there until 2002 when she joined the faculty at Vega Elementary. Over the next five years, she served as a third grade teacher/team lead and instructional specialist at Minshew Elementary. From 2005 – 2013, she served as assistant principal at McGowen Elementary and Dowell Middle School before accepting the principal position at Dowell in 2016.
“I am honored and excited to make the move to Scott Johnson Middle School,” said Rogers. “I look forward to getting to know the campus and community. SJMS has a great reputation, and I’m privileged to have the chance to be a partner in taking the campus to the next level. Go Tigers!”
Rogers holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (early childhood) from East Texas State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Dallas Baptist University.
